As part of the fabulous Paradiski ski area, Peisey-Vallandry offers you the very best in skiing along with location favourites such as Les Arcs and La Plagne. All disciplines are featured, from alpine to nordic skiing, including new lifts, glides and freeride.Paradiski ski area
Treat yourself to a child's dream of a one-hour ride on a reindeer sled pulled by Nevada and Geronimo reindeer while trading the resort of Peisey-Vallandry for the wide-open spaces of Lapland. Comfortably installed on the sled or walking on snowshoes next to it, you will have time to admire the enchanting scenery between snow-covered peaks and forest passages and certainly cross paths with some of the wild animals of the Vanoise National Park.
Don't let the name fool you. Le petit hibou restaurant will take you on a world tour with its inventive Mediterranean and Asian cuisine inspired by the globe-trotting experiences of its New Zealand chef. Just as original and inspired, the drinks menu will take you off the beaten track, and you may even be tempted by Mt Houblon, the beer brewed in the restaurant's cellar. A gourmet address not to be missed!
Every Wednesday in winter, the Tourist Office organises visits to the GAEC Alpin farm, which produces the famous Beaufort cheese. This is an opportunity to watch the milking of Tarentaise cows and then visit the cheese processing workshop, which is used to make this PDO (protected designation of origin) cheese and also, to some extent, to produce farmhouse tomme and raclette.
Until the 19th century, Peisey-Vallandry was called Les Monts d'Argent because of its significant mining activity linked to the extraction of silver-lead. The village has preserved many relics from this rich past, which can be discovered along a museum trail. During the summer, children can participate in an activity called "Les petits mineurs" (The little miners), which introduces geology and the transformation of ore into metal.
