The place to ski in the Pyrenees

Have you been to the most beautiful resorts in the French Alps and are now looking for a new ski area to spend your holiday in? What if you head to the Pyrenees in Spain? You will discover why the excellent reputation of Baqueira goes far beyond the Spanish borders.

The most visited ski resort in Spain

What we love about Baqueira

We might sometimes forget it, but this resort in the Pyrenees can offer one of the best skiing experiences possible, as proven by the most prestigious Spanish ski area. Plenty of snow and great skiing await you in Baqueira, with a cosy atmosphere and a beautiful setting.

A chic and refined destination with a certain Spanish way of living: you will find it all in the resort of Baqueira! Located in the province of Lleida, between the Aran Valley and the Àneu Valley, it attracts both a local clientele and French guests due to its proximity to cities like Bordeaux and Toulouse in the Southwest of France.

Visitors appreciate a ski resort that competes with the most prestigious domains in the Alps regarding infrastructure, ski lifts, snow level, luxury shops, good restaurants, and 4 and 5-star hotels. For a less cosy but more festive apres-ski, guests can easily head to Vielha, the capital of Val d’Aran, which is very well equipped in terms of clubs and other nightlife facilities - and there are plenty of activities for the day too. For skiing and relaxing alike, Baqueira is the winter sports destination that will please everyone.

From luxury to authenticity

To ski in the favorite resort of the Spanish royal family is quite exciting. But apart from its undeniable characteristic luxury, Baqueira's true richness lies in its gorgeous natural setting and in its heavenly snowy landscapes.

The most sought-after ski resort in the Pyrenees brings out an image of chicness, elegance and refinement. For that, it would make sense to think that Baqueira is an elitist station reserved for a few privileged members of Spanish society. On the contrary! Families with young children are particularly attracted to the snow of this resort, as are lovers of the great outdoors.

A great variety of landscapes can be seen in this singular area of the Aran Valley, Spain's only Atlantic valley of mountain ranges. On skis (or on a ski lift!), on foot, on horseback, or by mountain bike, we can’t help but admire the resort's forests, waterfalls, lakes, and ponds. If time allows, drive the 90km that separates Baqueira from the Aigüestortes National Park. The views that await you are well worth the trip.

Royal destination

If the fame of Baqueira goes beyond the Spanish borders, it's before all because King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía made it their favourite ski resort. Unfortunately, Queen Letizia has little taste for the pleasures of skiing, and the new sovereign, Felipe IV, only occasionally goes there.

Messi in Baqueira

The famous Argentinian football player Lionel Messi owns a four-star hotel in Baqueira, the MiM, which stands for Messi & Majestic. The hotel is a prestigious address in Val d'Aran that includes 141 bedrooms, three restaurants and bars, and a top-notch spa.

The millionaire resort

Baqueira, the star ski of the Pyrenees, has recently registered the best numbers in its history. Over one million ski days have been sold during the winter sports season! Wait no more to jump on a ski lift and try it out for yourself!

The Courchevel of Spain

Amenity indeed has found its place in Baqueira—so much so that many ski lovers have started calling it the "mini-Courchevel of the Pyrenees," thanks to the level of snow and to the many luxury hotels and well-known brands and restaurants that have established themselves there, like Moet & Chandon, which has a champagne and tapas bar on the pistes of this ski resort.
