Coming to La Plagne in France for a holiday is easy, but choosing a village or a high altitude site is much more complicated as the choice is vast, enriching and attractive. Find out which Plagne is right for you.

The most popular resort in the world

What we like about La Plagne

If this resort attracts more than 2.5 million visitors and skiers every year, it's not by chance! With one of the best ski areas and slopes globally, it also offers many possibilities and atmospheres for a successful stay in the mountains in all circumstances.

A calm and cosy atmosphere at Plagne 1800; young and lively at Plagne Bellecôte (1930 metres) and Plagne Centre (1970 metres); family-oriented at Plagne Villages, Belle-Plagne and Plagne Soleil (2050 metres); friendly and welcoming at Plagne Aime 2000 (2100 metres): The high altitude sites, whose visionary architecture was conceived by the same architect, Michel Bezançon, are all characterised by ski-in/ski-out access and by a singular setting, atmosphere, infrastructure and lifts, which will appeal more to a well-defined type of clientele.

Further down, the village sites of Champagny en Vanoise and Montchavin-la-Plagne, both at an altitude of 1250 metres and Plagne-Montalbert at 1350 metres, offer a more authentic setting with old wooden and stone chalets and farmhouses. Presently, before the resort was built, these villages will appeal to fans of mountain holidays that are not just about skiing.

A unique non-skiing offer

Even if skiing attracts a considerable number of visitors to La Plagne thanks to Paradiski, its great ski area, the resort is also renowned for other winter and summer activities in which it excels.

Even more than skiing, it is bobsleigh that is in the DNA of La Plagne area. The inhabitants practised the discipline long before the site became a world-famous winter sports and ski resort. It was, therefore, only natural that the resort hosted the bobsleigh events at the Albertville Olympics in 1992, and it is no surprise that it still hosts the only bobsleigh and skeleton track in France. As such, the general public can enjoy an extraordinary experience in the snow during an initiation descent in a unique machine designed by and for La Plagne!

In summer, visitors are invited to swap their skis for electric mountain bikes and good shoes for the day to enjoy the resort, a natural trail station. About twenty permanent itineraries are spread out over the whole area with various difficulty levels so that the wayside leaves no one. The resort's sporting calendar highlights the 6000D Trail de Legende, which has been thrilling La Plagne at the end of July for over 30 years!

La Plagne is 60 years old!

La Plagne was born on 22 December 1961. To celebrate this symbolic anniversary, the resort has planned many events. So many festive occasions to look back at what has made La Plagne so successful over the past 60 years.

A unique and visionary architecture

The strong identity of La Plagne is due to a daring architect, Michel Bezançon, who has given it all his creativity. One of the buildings, the Paquebot de Plagne Aime 2000, was classified as 20th-century heritage in 2009 and as Outstanding Contemporary Architecture in 2016.

The famous resort with the red cap

Nicknamed so by the regulars, Plagne made this little accessory its effigy in 1966. The Havas agency created the famous logo when it was looking to make an impression during the television broadcast of the snow games organised by the resort.
