Ski for everyone

Combloux is the perfect resort to start your first runs. Warm, friendly and welcoming, it has all the facilities to put beginners at ease without frustrating the more experienced riders.

The huge advantage of being a charming resort like Combloux, integrated into two ski areas, is that you have an attractive ski offer for all skiers and a small resort atmosphere which encourages learning to ski without any pressure.

You will feel comfortable in Combloux when you are a beginner skier because of the large choice of green and blue slopes and the possibility of moving easily from one slope to another within the Portes du Mont Blanc domain since all the resorts, except Cordon, are linked by ski.

To start off well, we cannot recommend enough the piste that links Combloux to La Giettaz. Several kilometres long and very easy at first, it will make you feel confident quickly. You can continue with the blue pistes la Croix, which takes shape in the middle of the fir trees, or La Gentiane, ideal for gentle progress.

Once you are comfortable on your skis, it will be easy to go to the resorts of La Giettaz and Jaillet to take advantage of their superb slopes for beginners such as the blue La Treffleannaise and La Pere Noël or the green run Les 7 Nains.

For experienced skiers, Combloux has great slopes in the middle of the fir trees, including many red slopes which are quite technical such as the Jorace, Ambourzalles and Porrez, and one black slope, the ungroomed Grand Cerf. If one black piste is not enough, fear not, the most demanding descents await them less than 3 km from the village, in the vast Evasion Mont Blanc domain.

Those who are looking for legendary slopes will be welcomed by the black run Emile Allais, in Megeve, reputed to be one of the most difficult of the Alps; and on the side of Contamines Montjoie, they will find the black Greuvettaz slope, a real ungroomed wall (it is too steep for the groomers!). Quite a thrill!

With kids

A resort with the Famille Plus label since 2005 is fore sure a good sign if you are coming with the young ones! In Combloux, children are kings and a treasure of imaginative experiences is available to entertain them. As for the parents, they can ski with peace of mind.

A ski resort designed for families must provide complete and high-quality service for the little ones. In Combloux, the Les Loupiots day care centre, located in La Cry at the foot of the slopes, welcomes your toddlers aged from one to six years old. Open 7 days a week during the season, this tourist nursery is in liaison with the French Ski School (ESF) in order to offer parents Gardiski packages for 3 to 6-year-olds in addition to the Piou Piou Club. A fun and relaxed way to get started on the snow, with your feet on the ground.

Are your children old enough to follow you on the slopes? If yes, there's plenty to do in the area! From the Beauregard chairlift, you will have the choice between the blue Gentiane run, perfect for first descents with the family, and the Petite Blanche, a fun run with bumps and turns in the colours of Tilou, the Combloux mascot.

A little higher up, near the Jaillet gondola, a nice surprise awaits you with the Ours des Pres play area. Composed of numerous playful modules and small obstacles easy to overcome, it extends over the whole of the Dames piste, a very nice green run which will give your little skiers confidence.

On the Megeve side, an elf village welcomes both little riders and non-skiers for a moment of play in the middle of elf huts, wooden modules and swings. Numerous activities for young and old are organised throughout the winter season.

If you prefer sledging, you can visit La Cry, located at the centre of the resort, and Cuchet. The first one is reserved for children under 6 years old while the second one, much longer, is intended for older children.

For those who like fresh snow

With its 3 snowparks and 2 boardercrosses, the Portes du Mont Blanc domain is ready to seduce freestyle lovers. And if that's not enough, you can count on Megeve and Saint-Gervais, the star resorts of Evasion Mont Blanc, to give you a real treat.

Freestyle skiers, you are going to have a lot of fun in Combloux and in the neighbouring resorts as there are no less than 7 freestyle areas and 3 snowparks in the vast Evasion Mont Blanc ski area. And to make your mouth water, here is a small selection of snowparks and boardercross for you to discover.

From the Pertuis chairlift, along the Ambourzalles slope, let yourself be amazed by the red-rated boardercross of Combloux. With a length of 800 metres and a difference in height of 150 metres, it will offer you a maximum of sensations.

Set in the middle of nowhere, or almost, the Torraz snowpark in La Giettaz will make your head spin with its 360° view of the Mont Blanc and the Aravis chain. A great show to accompany a memorable session of skiing with courses dedicated to beginners and pros alike.

Continue the experience in the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area with the top-of-the-range facilities in Megeve. Within the resort, you can choose between the Rochebrune freestyle area, the Waidzai park and its numerous new sliding modules to learn or improve, the Freestyle Air Bag to test new tricks in complete safety and the filmed cross-country run, the Quattro Video Experience.

In Saint-Gervais, don't miss the Big airbag and the Mont-Joux snowpark with its boardercross open to both children and the most experienced riders. An opportunity to share the passion for skiing as a family!

For freeride enthusiasts

The big advantage of being a mid-altitude ski area populated by fir trees is that the risk of avalanches is low, so you might as well make the most of it!

Can't wait to make your mark in the fresh snow? Take one of the many ski touring or off-piste itineraries in the area. Of all the resorts in the Portes du Mont Blanc, La Giettaz is the most generous with powder. The enlightened amateurs even say that the Giett', for those who know it well, is one of the best freeride spots in the Alps. That's a bold statement!

If you are looking for something particularly peachy, launch yourself into the Val d'Arly tour and its hundred kilometres of off-piste. A treat!  But make sure you are in good physical condition beforehand because you will have to keep up the pace.

Do you prefer to test the powder snow without any risk? No need to leave Combloux. The resort's piste service has chosen not to groom the pistes immediately to allow all skiers to enjoy the pleasure of virgin snow in a safe and marked environment. A little extra step that makes all the difference!

For Nordic ski enthusiasts

Combloux offers two cross-country ski itineraries that will delight beginners. For the more experienced skiers, the Evasion Mont Blanc domain in Megeve and Les Contamines is the place to be.

Both classic and skating, the cross-country ski routes of Combloux offer a good warm-up with a 3 km green level route with a positive difference in altitude of 100 metres and a 2.5 km blue level route also with 100 D+. Count on an hour to complete both.

Other more extensive Nordic sites await you in the Evasion Mont Blanc domain since Megeve Côte 2000 has 40 km of trails for alternating or skating and Les Contamines has about 25 km of trails in the middle of fir trees and glades.

You will also have fun joining the Bettex by Saint-Nicolas de Veroce by following the 15 km groomed link route or by walking the 10 km between the Mont-d'Arbois and Encraty. Several loops are particularly suitable for snowshoeing, which is even more fun.
