Praz-sur-Arly is a vibrant community that embraces alpine culture. You can explore shops and boutiques that offer local specialities. The enticing aroma of Savoyard cuisine wafting from cosy bistros and bakeries like La Choco will tempt you. Annual events, like the Frosted Dragonale trail running competition in February, the “Smuggler’s Trail” annual hike, markets and concerts, bring a lively atmosphere to the area and add to the town's charm.

What is the Smugglers Trail?

This scenic hike, with circuits for all levels, offers a fun and active way to see the area and get a sense of the historical times in this region. Take a chairlift to the summit of Ban Rouge, where the hike begins. Three marked circuits are available, and throughout the route, you may encounter smugglers and customs officers in period costumes and antique skis! It's a friendly hike and a great opportunity to meet locals and experience the magical landscapes.

Pioneering School Ski Holidays

Praz-sur-Arly was the first village in France to create the concept of organised school skiing holidays in March 1950. The introduction of school ski trips made skiing more prominent and doable for younger generations. This fostered a love for the sport and has since contributed to the region's vibrant ski culture.

Village Charm

Explore this charming village and its traditional Savoyard architecture. Enjoy many family-friendly events, like every Thursday in the summer, when the Place de la Mairie hosts open-air concerts. Enjoy this weekly music scene alongside the local Pralins and Pralines, the affectionate nicknames for the men and women here.

Montgolfiades in Praz sur Arly

An annual hot air balloon event held in Praz-sur-Arly since 1990, which takes place every January. The first event featured 12 balloons, and now, years later, nearly 20 take flight. There are activities for the whole family, from a first flight to mini-hot air balloon rides. Not to mention the abundant opportunities for Instagram-worthy content!
