A myriad of skiing options

Samoens is located in one of the largest ski areas in the French Alps. It offers 265 km of slopes, which is an incredible amount of skiing space.

Like the other resorts in the Grand Massif, Samoens benefits from a geographical location with optimal snow conditions. Most of its slopes face north. In addition, 20 hectares of the resort's total surface area are used for the production of artificial snow.

Then, there is the exceptional setting in which the village is nestled. Whether you prefer the magnificent green slopes lined with trees or the incredible view of the mountain and its snow-capped peaks, Samoens will satisfy you.

However, with its gentle slopes, Samoens is ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers. This makes it a very interesting destination for your family holiday. You and your children will be full of entertainment, activities and discoveries.

A beautiful family ski resort

Samoens is genuinely a great place to live. However, the village is also suitable for unforgettable holidays with children.

It is a medium-altitude mountain range, yet it still has plenty of snow. This means that the slopes are particularly suitable for the ultimate skiing experience if you are a beginner or planning a holiday with your child.

Several ski schools are also in the area to ensure your child progresses safely.

Samoens is also home to one of the largest ski areas in the Haute-Savoie, between the Grand Massif Express and Saix gondolas. Some slopes, such as the one on the Col de Joux Plane, are also specially designed for the youngest.

An area also suitable for off-piste skiing

In the heart of the Haute-Savoie, this resort (which of course has a large number of green, blue and red runs) offers a beautiful area for freeriding.

The Vaconnant sector in particular is accessible via the Gouilles Rouges chairlift. The slope borders the combe in this case and allows a unique experience in the middle of a wild nature. Join the water reservoir to finish your descent.

On the other hand, the Chariande Express chairlift also has some nice surprises in store for you as it links the village with the Tête du Pre des Saix. The latter offers a freeride area with a DVA park, but also allows you to take on the Aigle Noir and Chamois black runs.

In any case, Samoens is a perfect starting point to explore the Grand Massif ski area and all it has to offer. Opt for the ski pass to make the pleasure last. Also, opt for a professional instructor to guide you to the best off-piste spots around the resort.

A large domain with many activities

Apart from the ski slopes, there is plenty of choice to entertain the whole family in Samoens.

Consider hiring a bike for a fun ride through the village on snow. Try exciting activities such as a night out in the forest or a snowshoeing trip. This is the best way to explore the beautiful snowy landscapes of the Haute-Savoie but from a different perspective.

Of course, if you want to experience the joys of skiing, there is just as much choice in Samoens. Consider the must-do activities such as sledging or dog sledging, which are undeniably popular with children.

Similarly, the resort has an artificial ice rink in the heart of the historic centre, immersing you in a warm and friendly alpine atmosphere.

If you're more of a freestyle skier, then go to the Samoens snowpark, which is located near the Soleil slope.

A unique apres-ski experience

Of course, the quality of the ski slopes is one of the main reasons to come to Samoens. However, the village also offers a myriad of options for feeling relaxed and re-energised after a busy day.

Its Savoyard charm is reflected in the local gastronomy. Like most ski areas in the French Alps, Samoens has a particular focus on cheese. Abondance, Emmental de Savoie, Tomme de Savoie, Chevrotin des Aravis, Serac, Reblochon, etc., savour their good taste after you have hit the slopes.

In addition to the Savoyard fondue and raclette, you can also taste other delicious culinary specialities such as the unmissable diots, Savoy sausages and crozets, as well as the Morillon chestnut soup and many others.

Wellness activities are also available, as are relaxing spas, not forgetting of course cultural visits and outdoor activities.
