Here, you can choose between 5 resorts to spend your holidays. 

  • Flaine's main attraction is its unique natural charm, offering an incomparable change of scenery.

  • Les Carroz d'Araches is an easily accessible tourist resort. The village, perched at an altitude of 1,200 m, offers a multitude of activities in both winter and summer.

  • The village of Morillon, meanwhile, offers a rather discreet and pleasant setting at 700 m altitude. Perfect for family holidays, it also has wide-open spaces ideal for forest walks (on skis or on foot).

  • The resort of Samoëns also boasts a rich historical heritage. As you hurtle down its varied slopes, you'll also discover an unspoilt natural environment that invites you to relax.

  • Why not also make a diversion to Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, the last resort in the Grand Massif? Considered one of the most beautiful villages in France, it remains an attractive option for sports enthusiasts who prefer to ski in a wooded, unspoilt setting.

Flaine, family skiing made easy

The French Alps boast some of the most beautiful peaks in the world for an exceptional mountain holiday. At Flaine, young and old alike can experience the thrill of skiing at altitudes of between 1,600 and 2,500 metres.

The village has 14% green runs and 44% blue runs. During the ski season, youngsters and beginners alike can perfect their technique on the key sectors such as Arolle, Épiceas, Azurite and Serpentine.

Flaine also has a number of play areas for children. They are all equipped and safe, so you can enjoy them with complete peace of mind. Urban'Z, for example, is accessible via the Ballacha ski lift. Ze Fun Slope is on the blue Tourmaline piste (accessible from the Grands Vans chairlift).

The resort of Flaine is also home to a nursery called Les P'tits Loups that welcomes children aged between 6 months and 3 years.

Enjoy skiing to the fullest

But Flaine is not just a family ski resort. It's also an extraordinary destination for those who love great sporting challenges.

By joining the Cascades trail, you will have access to a magnificent playground. You'll need to be patient, though, as it usually takes 3 hours to get there and back.

Make your way to this magnificent blue run, accessible from the summit of the Grandes Platieres. Then ski down the 14km run, which is one of the longest in the French Alps. You'll also be skiing on the edge of the Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval Nature Reserve... in a relaxed atmosphere and surrounded by magnificent scenery.

What's more, Flaine's black runs are known to be among the most difficult in the Haute-Savoie. So if you're looking for your next challenge, the resort and the surrounding area should definitely be at the top of your list of destinations. In any case, the Diamant Noir, Les Lindars and Veret slopes are ideal for experienced skiers.

An excellent Nordic area for cross-country skiing

Let yourself be carried away by the magic of winter by joining the Nordic area of Flaine. The Col de Pierre Carree in the Arve Valley offers a remarkable skiing experience.

Perched at an altitude of 1,844 m, this unique world offers quality snow and a gentle terrain.

Cross-country skiing is an exciting family activity. In Flaine, cross-country skiing takes place during the ski season and is suitable for all levels of skier. Beginners will enjoy the magnificent scenery, surrounded by fir trees.

The Flaine cross-country ski run is also 2.5 km long. Skating or classic cross-country skiing, you can choose the discipline that interests you.

If you're looking for a bigger playground, the Agy Nordic ski area (30 minutes from Flaine) with its 35km of cross-country ski trails is a great alternative.

Freeride skiing in total freedom

If you're a keen off-piste skier, the resort of Flaine is sure to win you over. With thrilling descents along marked and unmarked runs, you'll have the chance to discover the mountain from a different angle.

However, it should be noted that freeriding is mainly for advanced skiers. And don't forget your avalanche transceiver, an essential piece of protection.

Whatever the case, Flaine invites you to conquer its 5 black pistes and have some fun. One of the most popular spots for off-piste skiing is the Combe de Gers. This is an area where the descent begins at an altitude of 2310 m and ends at 1700 m (with a vertical drop of 800 m).

Of course, you can also enjoy Flaine's unspoilt mountain scenery by skiing in areas such as Les Lindars and Veret.

Ski for free on beginners' slopes

Le Pre, Le Bissac and Meleze, the Flaine resort offers 3 dedicated, reserved and secure areas specifically for beginners.

Away from the crowds, you'll have the chance to try your hand at this essential Alpine winter sport. You'll be sure to make the most of the ski area later, with your family or friends.

These slopes are specially selected to suit your level. Of course, this doesn't mean you can't explore the whole ski area if you wish.

In any case, Flaine makes it easy for you by providing 4 free ski lifts. Take the covered carpets at Le Pre, Le Michalet or Le Bissac, as well as the Flaine cable car to reach these areas. You've got no excuse for not learning to ski!

Remember to be accompanied by a professional instructor during your apprenticeship.
