The resort

The resort of all pleasures in the heart of Mont-Blanc

Megeve knows how to combine family atmosphere, refinement and authenticity flawlessly. People come to Megeve not only for the quality of the Evasion Mont Blanc ski resort area, but also to enjoy the enchantment that emanates from the village.

The magical atmosphere in the French Alps

What we like about Megeve

Only two hours from Lyon and one hour from Geneva, “the village in the middle of the waters” attracts visitors dazzled by its old town buildings, medieval alleys, fountains, spas, and restaurants.

For more than a century, the resort has benefited from the dynamism and growth spurred by the Rothschild family, who have long made it their holiday destination, with the ambition of transforming Megeve into the French equivalent of Saint-Moritz.

Cradle of skiing in France, since the first cable car dedicated to winter sports was created in the 1930s, the resort has consistently lived up to its reputation. Megeve is growing, expanding, and spreading its wings, but is always concerned about fitting into its splendid surroundings. The chalets are built in the tradition of the farms of yesteryear, while the 5-star hotels, gourmet restaurants and boutiques provide a refinement valued by customers.

Beyond the top-of-the-range services offered by the resort, there is this indescribable setting. In the heart of the Mont-Blanc region, the village is surrounded by forests and mountain pastures as far as the eye can see, while three popular mountain ranges form a natural setting of great beauty. Calm and serenity inevitably win over those who lay eyes on this unspoiled nature.

An environmentally friendly resort

Megeve has values close to its heart, which it proudly displays through several labels and certifications.

Labelled Famille Plus in the past, the station was forced to relinquish it for financial reasons, but did not want to turn its back on what is part of its DNA: the Family Spirit. By creating its brand, Megeve aims to demonstrate to parents, their children, and skiers that they are more welcome than ever in the village and the ski area. Everything has been done to offer them welcoming accommodation and rich, varied activities to make them want to come to Megeve, and even more so.

At the same time, since 2008, Megeve has been developing accessible tourism, making the resort, its services, activities, and shops as accessible as possible to people with disabilities.

Another strong commitment of the resort is its environmental focus, as well as its broader dedication to sustainable development. Its actions in favour of biodiversity and the preservation of the environment, along with its sustained efforts to diversify its domain, have earned it recognition as a Flocon vert label holder, which promotes the most virtuous mountain holiday destinations.

For all these actions undertaken and its remarkable sense of hospitality, Megeve has also been distinguished by the State Quality Tourism label, a pledge of seriousness and professionalism highly prized by both French and foreign tourists during their holidays.

The soul of the Rothschild family

It was Noemie de Rothschild, the mother of Baron Edmond. She set her sights on Megeve in 1920 with the ambition of transforming this charming mountain village into a fabulous ski resort with different lift types and slopes. A century later, her influence is still palpable.

Full of unusual experiences

Because the mountains are rich in experiences, Megeve loves to surprise its visitors with unusual activities, such as spending the night in an igloo, playing golf on the snow, learning to curl, or mountain trotting.

An exceptional reception capacity

Megeve has a colossal tourist accommodation capacity with more than 40,300 beds in 7,126 establishments, including 478 furnished tourist accommodations, a category in which the properties of Emerald Stay appear.

The Palace, the meeting place for sportsmen

The largest sports complex in the Alps, the Palais de Megeve, covers 30,000 m2 and brings 11 thematic areas under its roof, which you can experience in a day: aquatic, climbing, ice, snowshoeing, fitness, well-being, leisure centre, children, catering, etc.
