Texas Hill Country

Between rivers and rolling hills

The Hill Country at the heart of central Texas is where timeless charm flows into rugged natural beauty. With rolling hills, crystal-clear rivers, wildflower blooms and sunny vineyards, the region captures the spirit of Texas at its most authentic. From the artistic energy of Austin, the wine trails of Fredericksburg, to the German influence in New Braunfels, the Hill Country feels like a patchwork quilt full of stories stitched together by the winding scenic roads and warm southern hospitality found here.

The heart and soul of Texas

In Hill Country, spend your days swimming in the Blanco River, tubing on the Guadalupe, or hiking the pink granite dome of Enchanted Rock State Natural Area near Llano.

Take a walk through Boerne’s historic downtown area filled with antique shops and craft breweries, and venture out to Wimberley’s Blue Hole Regional Park, which is one of the most beloved swimming spots in Texas. Head to Dripping Springs to taste local wines and the area’s signature farm-to-table cuisine.

A taste of rustic luxury

The Hill Country offers something different, from the secluded ranches around Kendalia to the lively Main Street charm that defines Fredericksburg. Hill Country is a place where you can taste locally made, celebrated wines, watch the hills come alive with bluebonnets in spring, or relax in a quiet cabin overlooking the rolling countryside. The Texas Hill Country invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and feel at home beneath its wide, starlit sky.

The Land of 1,000 Springs

The Hill Country is famous for its gorgeous, crystal-clear springs and swimming holes, which are fed by underground aquifers that bring cool, refreshing water to the surface. Locals and visitors flock to spots like Jacob’s Well in Wimberley and Blue Hole Regional Park for a dip, especially in the warm Texas summer.

Texas Wine Country

Move over, Napa! The Hill Country is the second-largest wine-producing region in the United States. With over 60 wineries and tasting rooms between Dripping Springs and Fredericksburg, this area produces award-winning reds, crisp whites, and offers up panoramic vineyard views, making it a dreamy countryside escape for wine lovers.

Where the Stars Shine Brightest

Because there aren't many cities nearby, the night sky here is phenomenal. Enchanted Rock, near Llano, earned International Dark Sky Park status, meaning the stargazing is truly world-class. On a clear night, the Milky Way stretches across the sky, and during meteor showers, it feels like you're watching a private show.

A Wildflower Wonderland

Then there's spring, when the Texas state flower, the bluebonnet, blooms and absolutely takes over the fields. Highways 16 and 290 turn into scenic routes where people pull over constantly to snap photos. Towns like Burnet and Llano throw festivals to celebrate, and honestly, it's worth planning a trip around if you've never seen it.
