Samoëns is a charming Savoyard village and one of the best resorts in the Grand Massif. Known for its natural, cultural and historical wealth, the resort is still a favourite with winter sports and outdoor enthusiasts. It is also ideal for those looking for peace and quiet in the middle of the countryside.
Samoëns is not only a great option for a ski holiday. This village in the south of the Haute-Savoie has much more to offer.
Samoëns is indeed a destination of choice for those who like to combine fun and discovery. A long walk through its narrow streets will allow you to meet the famous stone churches and chapels of yesteryear which already trace the history of the resort.
You can also appreciate its architectural heritage with old buildings such as the Chateau de la Tour. In the same way, how to speak about Samoëns without evoking the Gros Tilleul? This tree, planted in 1438 (visible on the square of the same name) has become a real emblem of the village.
Of course, the charm of this beautiful resort is also enough on its own to inspire you to relax when you need it.
Samoens is best known for the incredible quality of its slopes. The resort usually experiences above average snowfall, which guarantees a favourable environment for your favourite sport.
Connected to the Grand Massif ski area, Samoëns also offers a huge playground for alpine ski lovers. Here, you will have at your disposal :
265 km of slopes, the longest of which measures 14 km;
98 runs at an altitude of between 700 and 2,500 m, including:
21 green runs,
40 blue runs,
33 red runs and
4 black runs.
1,800 m of total vertical drop and
13 ski lifts to get you around the village and other resorts in the Grand Massif ski area.
Samoëns is a real jewel in the Alps. This charming traditional village offers easy access to a vast ski area, just an hour and a half drive from Lyon and an hour from Geneva.
Covering an area of 97 km², the village provides access to a variety of areas suitable for both sporting and cultural discovery. All this in the heart of a preserved nature.
Samoëns is also a first stopover before setting off to conquer the other Grand Massif resorts: Flaine, Morillon, Les Carroz and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval.
Samoens is a pleasant ski village with a rich history. Even if you don't ski, you can still enjoy visiting the many historical sites and rediscovering the cultural activities the resort has to offer.
